Accessing DIAL UK Web Site

Introduction
Welcome to our new DIAL UK website. This website has been designed to be as accessible to as many users as possible. This has been done by following the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C) Accessibility Initiative (WAI) accessibility guidelines to Priority level 3, working in consultation with Poptel.net, RNIB, and many other experts in the accessibility field together with our own independent research.

As we constructed the web site we have tested it using various browser software as recommended by the RNIB such as Lynx, IBM Home Page Reader and JAWS with Internet Explorer. We know there are a variety of computer and web access technologies that we have not been able to test the performance of the site with. In order to help us reach our goal of making the DIAL UK web site user-friendly we would be very grateful for any feedback you can give us. Please go to the feedback to inform us about any problems or give us comments about using the site.

We would also like to thank the RNIB, in particular Donna Smillie, RNIB Best Practice Officer, for her excellent advice and encouragement. Donna provided clarity on some of the more confusing W3C checkpoints and invaluable advice about browser usage amongst visually impaired users.

We read and posted to various newsgroups during the project, particularly alt.comp.blind-users. As a result of this we were able to make contact with Gregory J. Rosmaita, WebMaster & Minister of Propaganda, VICUG NYC (The Visually Impaired Computer Users' Group of New York City) and WAI invited expert. Gregory provided us with detailed answers to our many questions about how to implement the details of different guidelines and provide feedback our efforts, we would like to extend our thanks for the time and effort Gregory put in to helping us out.
