DIAL UK exists to promote the empowerment of disabled people by providing specialist support services to local disability information and advice services.

DIALs are local independent voluntary organisations providing free disability information and advice services.

DIAL UK offers a variety of support services to local disability information and advice services. This support includes:

  1. Monthly Disability Reference Information Service keeping you up to date with sources of information to assist members in advising disabled people
  2. DIAL Database with over 5,000 records detailing organisations, publications and adviser fact sheets on a wide range of disability issues
  3. Low cost in-house and regional training for advisers, managers and trustees
  4. Support for welfare rights advisers including Helpline, Adviser Guides and Mentoring Scheme
  5. Support for managers including good practice information, Helpline, and free consultancies
  6. Low cost insurance scheme for members
  7. And much more …

Being a member of DIAL UK provides the opportunity to network with other local disability information and advice services. It also gives members a national voice through our social policy campaign work, and DIAL UK's role in representing the network at a national level.

DIAL UK is a membership-led organisation. Our Council of Management consists of elected regional representatives from local DIALs and all of our services are developed in full consultation with our members to ensure that they meet their needs.

DIAL UK is a member of Advice Services Alliance and is consulted by the Legal Services Commission on the development of the Community Legal Service. DIAL UK was recently represented on the Lord Chancellor's Task Force on Quality Standards.

DIAL UK has two types of membership:

  1. Full Membership open only to local independent voluntary organisations providing free disability information and advice services that are run by disabled people. See our Full Membership requirements.
  2. Associate Membership open to any other voluntary, independent disability information and advice service

If you are unable to meet our membership criteria you can still subscribe to our monthly Disability Reference Information Service and get access to other DIAL products and services.

If you would like to receive further information regarding membership please email or telephone DIAL UK on (01302) 310123.
